Waterproofing treatment of basement/ underground structures



A: TAPECRETE P-151 SYSTEM, WHERE CONDITIONS ARE NORMAL

RAFT

  • The Sub-base concrete (lean concrete/ PCC) to be rendered smooth with Cement: Sand Mortar (1:3) while it is still green by the main contractor itself.
  • Cleaning the PCC surface by means of soft wire/ plastic brush make it free from all loose particles, dust, laitance, etc.
  • Application of two coats of Tapecrete P-151 slurry – Acrylic polymer Modified Cementitious Slurry (Tapecrete P-151: Cement = 1: 2 by weight) over the properly rendered surface. A gap of 4-6 hours needs to be maintained after each coat to allow it to get dry.
  • Moist curingof Tapecrete system for next two days.
  • Providing 12mm plaster in the ratio 1 : 4 (Cement : Sand) admixed with CICO Super (conforming to IS 2645) over the Tapecreteapplied surface to protect the Tapecrete applied surface against probable mechanical damage due to dragging of reinforcement while placing them.
  • Casting of RCC slab by main contractor (Minimum M-20 grade and W/C ratio not exceeding 0.50) admixed with CICO Plast Super – Superplasticiser /High Range Water Reducing Admixture as per recommended dosage
  • Placing 12mm N.B.M.S. threaded Nozzles of 75mm length by drilling or making holes with suitable tools upto required depth in an approximate grid pattern at a spacing not exceeding 1.5 M c/c on the entire raft and fixing them with CICO No. 3 (quick setting admixture) admixed with cement. Similar threaded Nozzles shall also be fixed at a regular interval not exceeding 1.5 M apart all along the construction joints and also at critical points, if required in the same manner.
  • Injection of ready to use non-shrink polymeric rheo-plastic grout CICO Grout E1 admixed with water through the Nozzles by grouting pump under pressure not exceeding 2.5 kg/ cm². The grout should flow through all pores and voids thereby sealing them.
  • Removing the projected parts of nozzles & making the surface smooth with CICO No. 3 admixed with cement.

RETAINING WALLS

  • Casting of RCC Walls by main contractor (minimum M-20 grade and W/C ratio not exceeding 0.50) admixed with CICO Plast Super – Superplasticiser /High Range Water Reducing Admixture, as per recommended dosage.
  • Placing 12mmN.B.M.S. threaded Nozzles of 75mm length on interior surface by drilling or making holes with suitable tools upto required depth in an approximate grid pattern at a spacing not exceeding 1.5 M c/c on the entire RCC walls and fixing them with CICO No. 3 (quick setting admixture) admixed with cement. Similar threaded Nozzles shall also be fixed at a regular interval not exceeding 1.5 M apart all along the construction joints and also at critical points, if required in the same manner.
  • Cleaning the external side of RCC retaining walls by means of wire brush make it free from all loose particles, dust, laitance, etc.
  • Application of two coats of Tapecrete P-151 slurry – Acrylic polymer Modified Cementitious Slurry (Tapecrete P-151: Cement = 1: 2 by weight) over the properly rendered surface. A gap of 4-6 hours needs to be maintained after each coat to allow it to get dry.
  • Moist curing of Tapecrete system for next two days.
  • Providing 12mm plaster in the ratio 1:4 (Cement: Sand) admixed with CICO Super (conforming to IS 2645) on the external face of the retaining wallfollowed by backfilling.
  • Injection of ready to use non-shrink polymeric rheo-plastic grout CICO Grout E1 admixed with waterthrough the Nozzles by grouting pump under pressure not exceeding 2.5 kg/ cm². The grout should flow through all pores and voids thereby sealing them.
  • Removing the projected parts of nozzles & making the surface smooth with CICO No. 3 admixed with cement.

B: TAPECRETE RTU SYSTEM, WHERE WATER TABLE IS VERY HIGH

RAFT

  • The Sub-base concrete (lean concrete/ PCC) to be rendered smooth with Cement: Sand Mortar (1:3) while it is still green by the main contractor itself.
  • Cleaning the PCC surface by means of soft wire/ plastic brush make it free from all loose particles, dust, laitance, etc.
  • Application of first coat of Tapecrete RTU (Two Pack Polymer Modified Elastomeric Cementitious Waterproof Coating) over the cleaned surface after mixing both the components thoroughly (Pack A (Powder): Pack B (Liquid) = 2.5: 1 by weight).
  • At the green stage of Tapecrete RTU, laying 20-30 gsm Geo-textile as reinforcement all over the coated surface. A gap of 4-6 hours then needs to be maintained for second coat of Tapecrete RTU to allow the first coat to get dry.
  • Application of second & final coat of Tapecrete RTU over the laid geo-textile in the similar manner. Minimum consumption of 1.5 kgs Tapecrete RTU per sq.m. should be maintained in two coats.
  • Moist curingof Tapecrete RTU system for next two days.
  • Providing 12mm plaster in the ratio 1 : 4 (Cement : Sand) admixed with CICO Super (conforming to IS 2645) over the TapecreteRTU applied surface to protect the TapecreteRTU applied surface against probable mechanical damage due to dragging of reinforcement while placing them.

  • Removing the projected parts of nozzles & making the surface smooth with CICO No. 3 admixed with cement.
