Waterproofing treatment of terrace



A: TAPECRETE P-151 SYSTEM FOR SMALLCOMMON TERRACES WITH CONTINUOUS LENGTH NOT EXCEEDING 30M

  • Cutting grooves on the parapet walls at 300 mm above the horizontal surface to terminate the waterproofing treatment.
  • Final cleaning of RCC terrace by means of wire brush to make it free from all loose particles, dust, laitance, etc.
  • Dampening the concerned surface with water to get saturated surface dry (SSD) condition.
  • Making 25 x 25mm size concave corner fillets with Polymer modified cementitious (PMC) mortar (Tapecrete P-151: Cement: Silica Sand = 1: 2: 4-6 by weight) at all joints of horizontal and vertical surface, wherever applicable. Also the joints of outlet pipes and concrete/masonry are to be sealed with PMC mortar. In case of PVC pipes, the joints should be sealed with epoxy putty, CICO Poxy LC or epoxy mortar CICO Poxy 2125.
  • Application of first coat of Tapecrete P-151– Acrylic Polymer Modified Cementitious slurry (Tapecrete P-151: Cement = 1: 2 by weight) coating over the prepared surface and carried upto 300 mm on parapet walls including grooves.
  • At the green stage of first coat of Tapecrete slurry, laying of Fibre Glass Cloth over the treated surface. The same is left for 4-6 hours to get dry.
  • Application of second coat of Tapecrete slurry over the fibre glass cloth. The same is left for 4-6 hours to get dry.
  • Application of final coat of Tapecrete Brushtopping (Tapecrete P-151: Cement: Silica Sand = 1: 2: 2 by weight) over the second coat of Tapecrete slurry.
  • Moist curing of Tapecrete system for next two days.
  • Providing and laying screed concrete (1:2:4) on horizontal surface with avg. thickness of 50 mm admixed with CICO No. 1. Also, providing and laying 20mm cement sand plaster in the ratio (1:4) admixed with CICO No. 1 on the vertical face of the parapet wall including grooves.
  • Water curing of screed & plaster as per good engineering practices.

B: TAPECRETE RTU SYSTEM FOR LARGE COMMON TERRACES WITH EXPANSION JOINTS AND CONTINUOUS LENGTH NOT EXCEEDING 30M

  • Cutting grooves on the parapet walls at 300 mm above the horizontal surface to terminate the waterproofing treatment.
  • Final cleaning of RCC terrace by means of wire brush to make it free from all loose particles, dust, laitance, etc.
  • Dampening the concerned surface with water to get saturated surface dry (SSD) condition.
  • Making 25 x 25mm size corner fillets with stiff paste of Tapecrete RTU(by using 10% less of Pack A)at all joints of horizontal and vertical surface.  Also the joints of outlet pipes and concrete/masonry are to be sealed with stiff paste of Tapecrete RTU. In case of PVC pipes, the joints should be sealed with epoxy putty, CICO Poxy LC or epoxy mortar CICO Poxy 2125.
  • Application of first coat of Tapecrete RTU (Two Pack Polymer Modified Elastomeric Cementitious Waterproof Coating) over the RCC mother roof slab surface and continuedupto300 mm on parapet walls including grooves.
  • At the green stage of Tapecrete RTU, laying 20-30 gsm Geo-textile as reinforcement all over the coated surface. A gap of 4-6 hours then needs to be maintained for second coat of Tapecrete RTU to allow the first coat to get dry.
  • Application of second & final coat of Tapecrete RTUover the laid geo-textile in the similar manner. Minimum consumption of 1.5 kgs Tapecrete RTU per sq.m. should be maintained in two coats.
  • Moist curing of Tapecrete RTUsystem for next two days.
  • Providing and laying screed concrete (1:2:4) on horizontal surface with avg. thickness of 50 mm admixed with CICO No. 1. Also, providing and laying 20mm cement sand plaster in the ratio (1:4) admixed with CICO No. 1 on the vertical face of the parapet wall including grooves.
  • Water curing of screed & plaster as per good engineering practices.

C: CORCHEM 206 I SYSTEM FOR LARGE COMMON TERRACES WITHOUT EXPANSION JOINTS AND CONTINUOUS LENGTHEXCEEDING 30M OR INDUSTRIAL ROOF UNDER VIBRATION OR TERRACES REQUIRING HEAVY DUTY WATERPROOFING

  • Cutting grooves on the parapet walls at 300 mm above the horizontal surface to terminate the waterproofing treatment.
  • Final cleaning of RCC terrace by means of wire brush to make it free from all loose particles, dust, laitance, etc.
  • Making 25 x 25mm size concave corner fillets with Polymer modified cementitious (PMC) mortar (Tapecrete P-151: Cement: Silica Sand = 1: 2: 4-6 by weight) at all joints of horizontal and vertical surface, wherever applicable. Also the joints of outlet pipes and concrete/masonry are to be sealed with PMC mortar. In case of PVC pipes, the joints should be sealed with epoxy putty, CICO Poxy LC or epoxy mortar CICO Poxy 2125.
  • Application of one coat of Corchem 2P2, polyurethane based primer, over the cleaned & dry surface and carried upto grooves on parapet walls including grooves.This coat is then allowed to get dry for minimum 8 hours.
  • Application of first coat of Corchem 206 I, liquid applied polyurethane based elastomeric coating, on primed surface.
  • At the green/ tacky stage of first coat, laying 2030gsm geo-textile as a reinforcement over it. This coat is then allowed to get dry for minimum 8 hours.
  • Application of second & final coat of Corchem 206 I. Miminum thickness of 1mm should be maintained in two coats.
  • At the green/ tacky stage of second coat of Corchem 206 I, laying 100 gsm geo-textileas protective and separation layer. This coat is then allowed to get dry for minimum 24 hours.
  • Providing and laying screed concrete (1:2:4) on horizontal surface with avg. thickness of 50 mm admixed with CICO No. 1. Also, providing and laying 20mm cement sand plaster in the ratio (1:4) admixed with CICO No. 1 on the vertical face of the parapet wall including grooves.
  • Water curing of screed & plaster as per good engineering practices.
