Indira Sagar Project (M.P.)

Kolkata Metro Railway, Kolkata

The concrete specifications required that the initial slump of the batching plant should be around 190 – 200 mm but not less than 150mm at the pouring point. The time estimated between making and placement of the concrete was around 1.5 hrs. to 2 hrs. This is the time when CICO got involved with Hindustan Construction Ltd. and set about designing a concrete mix with a super placticiser as an admixture to provide the desired results laid down. The process of designing a concrete mix involved many critical trials and the concrete mixed design finally evolved, using CICO PLAST SUPER – a new generation superplasticiser based on a blend of molecular weight polymers to suit Indian conditions.


HYDRO ELECTRIC POWER PROJECT, NAPHTHA JHAKRI, Himachal Pradesh

During excavation (now completed), the Rock support was mainly done with 4.0m/4.5m long & 25mm dia rock bolts and 50-100 mm thick shotcrete. The rock bolts are fixed with CICO RESIFIX (Resin Capsule). Shotcreting was done with CICO SHOT (shotcreting accelerator). The lining of the tunnel is done by 400 mm to 600 thick concrete admixed with CICO PLAST SUPER. CICO Technologies Ltd. (CTL) are proud to be associated with NJPC right from the beginning of the project till now. CTL is the sole supplier of Resin Capsule for 16km length of HRT awarded to CFJV with consistent quality, agreed delivery schedule and continuos field technical support. 11.4 km tunnel built by NJJV also used CICO RESIFIX for rock bolting.


NTPC, Korba

CICO discussed this constraint with NTPC engineers and proposed to start chemical curtain grouting by plugging the leakage points by means of stacking sand bags into the sump to a thickness of 600mm on both northern and eastern ends. CICO proposed to channelise the flow of water through PVC pipes fixed, while placing the sand bags and strutting steel plate barrier to retain the sand bags.


Rehabilitation of Durgapur Chemical Factory, Durgapur (W.B.)

On the basis of the repairing scheme, only few specialised contractors having sufficient infra-structures to undertake such a huge repairing work and who had in-house facilities for manufacturing various construction chemicals required for rehabilitation were selected. After a detailed study, CICO was selected for undertaking repair and rehabilitation work, which can be considered as the largest rehabilitation work were selected of an industrial structure in eastern India, perhaps even in India. Rehabilitation of Gohar Mahal (M.P)

Situated right behind the Shaukat Mahal on the banks of the Upper Lake is an architectural marvel. However, the palace has not been well maintained and in a dilapidated state. To rehabilitate the Mahal, Madhya Pradesh Hasta Shilp Vikas Nigam assigned the task to CICO Technologies to provide the right solution. Renovation of Hall of Industry, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

For organising International Trade Fairs several Halls of Industries were constructed at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, in the last fifties. The main structure of the Halls of Industry are basically space frame structure with rhomboidal members connected to precast joints are situated in seven levels in all.


Restoration of South Court, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi

CICO, backed by their technical expertise was selected for carrying out the emergency rectification of the waterproofing of the basement units below the South Court

During the execution of the work, many unforeseen distresses were also detected which were rectified. Modification of system of repairs and proper co-ordination were essential requirements for the project. CICO executed the job to the satisfaction of CPWD President’s Estates Division.


Sabi River Bridge, Delhi-Jaipur Highway

After understanding the distresses and considering all the requirement of a bridge structure, CICO made a detailed study on how to restore the structure. The most difficult part was how to fill up the gap between deck slab and top of pier cap without any change in the existing design. As the degree of distresses was high, high strength epoxy base grout and mortar were recommended.


Select City Walk, New Delhi

CICO Technologies has provided quality waterproofing solutions for various structures like Sewage Treatment Plant, planters, underground and overhead tanks, Amphi Theatre, water bodies. The total area of the work was more than 10000 sq.m where quality was the prime criteria.


Simhadri Thermal Power Project, Simhadri, Andhra Pradesh

CICO Technologies Ltd. (CTL) supplied the total quantity of Corchem 60, (Organic Corrosion Inhibitor) meeting NTPC Specification. CTL also executed the application of 2mm thick 100% solid P.U. coating with NTPC approved material CORCHEM 210 (I) on Cooling Tower No. 2. The entire job was completed meeting the tight commissioning schedule. The P.U. coating job was started just after the completion of shell structure.


Soil Stabilisation, Siltara Nagpur

CICO tackled the problem successfully after undertaking the real reason of the problem. The solution was stabilisation of the soil surrounding the pipe by injecting PLOYGROUT a water reactive flexible barrier which would fill the cavities and also stailise the surrounding soil.

M/s Nagpur Casting Co. has constructed a water reservoir for their Pig Iron Plant at Siltara near Nagpur. The water reservoir is 600m x 250m in size and has 8m high embankment all round the reservoir.


Soil stabilization at NTPC, Singrauli

CICO group was informed about the problem by M/s Simplex Concrete Piles India Ltd., the main contractors and requested to evolve a suitable rectification measure for ensuring proper contact.

The Super Thermal Power Corporation at U.P. has condenser unit adjoining the Turbine Generator (TG). The TG has a massive foundation approximately 20m x 20m in plan and the level of the bottom of the TG foundation is 9 m below the ground level. The adjoining condenser unit is about 20m x 5m in plan dimension and the foundation is 12 m below the ground level.


Strengthening of Metro Track bed, Kolkata

Experimenting with various materials the Railways authorities selected CICO EPOXCRETE 2:1 and CICO EPOXYCRETE epoxy based grouts 2:1:2 which satisfied all the requirements.

After the TG foundation was completed, excavation for the condenser unit was started. During the excavation, when the level reached was about 12 m below the ground level, sand blow occurred from below the TG foundation, leaving some gaping space below the foundation.


Atomic Power Plant 3 & 4, Tarapur

The assignment of roof insulation and waterproofing was extremely critical, since the foam concrete used for roof insulation would float because of water stagnation on the roof as the job was to be executed mainly during monsoon.


Vidya Sagar Setu, Kolkata

All over the world the major problem faced by stayed cable bridges is premature distress of cable wires due to corrosion. To overcome this problem CICO entered into a technical collaboration with Yokohama Rubber Company, Kapan and Toshin Kaken, Japan for protection of the main cables against corrosion. The material used had to be flexible as the rigid material would result in cracking which would lead to corrosion. The material used had to be fire retardant as well. The material thus used was a combination of Polyurethane and Polyutadiene.


Water Proofing Metro Railways, Kolkata

Polygrout is a low viscosity liquid, which reacts with water in a controlled manner to form a swelling resilient adhesive solid. When impregnated under pressure into leaking structures and through the process of polymerisation, a permanent flexible water barrier is formed.

During the post-construction period, the Southern part of ‘Calcutta Metro Railways’ had a serious problem of inflow of water in the box tunnels through different locations which even affected the running of Metro Coach. The sources of water ingress were:


Water proofing of Chamera Hydel Project, Chamba, Himachal Pradesh

The NHPC officials had been plagued with continuous water leakages inside the penstock tunnels. Unable to solve this vexing problem, NHPC officials approached CICO Group of companies to inspect the locations of water ingress and to suggest immediate remedial measures to stop the water leakages, as continuous leakage of water inside the penstock could lead to serious damages.
